about
Here's a new Kevin Hairs song. I was inspired by the Microphones album "The Microphones in 2020", so much so, I thought to look at myself as i did the Lil Hospital in the year 2000. For those (many) not in the know, Lil Hospital was my first (obscure) band and I wanted to make contact with the person I was. That LH version of me is now ...uh... gone.. dead or maybe dormant inside me.
lyrics
I was born a lil' hospital
queer good & misunderstood
stranded out somewhere in the suburbs
I saw an art world
few friends and acquaintances
sorry to say i hated college
i was born a lil' hospital
crick in my neck
over tape decks
recorded on the floor
with my best buy keyboard
there was a Niko, Lynne, and
then a Bob
Eventually we had to stop
I was born a lil' hospital
smoked cigarettes
wanting to be dead
was in love with my guy friend
didn't know what to do with that
I was born a lil hospital
escaped from va / dc
I was a lil' hospital
soaked in apathy
i was a lil' hospital

There’s a warmth and conciseness in the songwriting that is unlike much else I’ve heard this year. A great record to put on if you’re in a pensive, throwback mood. Charli
